No unauthorised email collection

Statutory basis

Article 50-2 of the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilisation and Information Protection (prohibition of unauthorised collection of email addresses)

(1) No one may collect email addresses from a website that has expressly refused such collection, by using a programme or other technical device that collects them automatically.

(2) No one may sell or distribute email addresses collected in breach of paragraph (1).

(3) No one may knowingly use such addresses to transmit information.

Consequences

Anyone who collects, sells or distributes email addresses in breach of the above, or uses them to transmit information, may be punished under the Act.
